Coda centers on Sir Henry Cole, an acclaimed classical pianist zoned in on a career twilight disrupted by severe stage fright, brought on by his wife’s death. Struggling to reclaim his reputation, he meets Helen Morrison, an ambitious music critic from The New Yorker, who becomes his confidante. As Henry’s anxiety worsens, Helen encourages him to retreat to Sils Maria in the Swiss Alps, where a famed pianist’s healing performances give him a path toward redemption. Through contemplative walks, human connections, and Beethoven’s music, Henry confronts fear, loss, and the quest to perform again.
