Carey, a music teacher, plans a birthday concert for her husband Simon, performing songs that reflect on their past and the imminent arrival of their first child. She hires Owen, a bookstore clerk and guitarist, to accompany her—but as she and Owen grow closer, Carey confronts conflicting feelings, memories, and a secret that threatens her marriage.
